A hydraulic breaker (also called a hydraulic hammer, rock breaker, or demolition hammer) is a construction attachment powered by the carrier's hydraulic system. High-pressure oil drives a steel piston that strikes a tool — chisel, moil, or blunt — delivering hundreds of blows per minute to break rock, concrete, frozen ground, or asphalt. HCN breakers use a nitrogen-charged accumulator to boost impact energy and reduce pressure spikes back to the carrier.
